M.Sc. in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering from the Linköping Institute of Technology, Sweden (with a major in Applied Physics). M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Arkansas, USA. The studies in the USA concerned so-called analytic philosophy including philosophy of language and logic.

Mr. Israelsson has worked within the area of intellectual property since 1982: 1982-1988 (except for two years’ leave for studies in the USA) as a patent examiner at the Swedish Patent Office, 1988-1993 and 1997-1998 as a patent examiner in the DG2 (Examining and Opposition Divisions) at the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich and 1994-1996 as an assistant at a Board of Appeal of the European Patent Office. Mr. Israelsson is one of very few European Patent Attorneys who have worked at the Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office

In the DG2 at the EPO, he mainly worked within optics. He handled applications in all the three official languages, i.e. English, German and French. At the Boards of Appeal, he was in a Physics Board. There he dealt with different kinds of cases including semiconductor technology and medical technology. As a patent attorney, he has worked in a wide area including mechanics and physics as well as electronics and computer-related applications, and he has also handled cases concerning material technology and chemistry. As examples of technical areas where he has drafted patent applications the following can be mentioned: energy technology, medical technology, telecommunication and different kinds of mechanics. He also handles cases concerning oppositions and appeals before the EPO.

Mr. Israelsson has been with BJERKÉNS since 1998.
